Editorial policy

Who we are

Practice Wire covers legal practice management: how law firms are run, regulated, financed and staffed. We are published by Clarity Business Intelligence Limited. Ownership, editorial team and contact details are on the masthead.

Sourcing and verification

• News stories are written from primary sources: regulator consultations and decisions, court judgments, company filings and accounts, published research, and on-the-record statements.
• We link to the source material in the article so readers can check it themselves.
• We do not publish anonymous claims about named firms or individuals without giving them a chance to respond.
• Figures, dates and quotes are checked against the original document before publication. Where we cannot verify a claim, we either attribute it clearly or leave it out.

Bylines

Reporting produced by our own team carries the Newsroom Desk byline. Contributed articles carry the contributor's name, role and organisation, with a link to their website where supplied. We do not publish work under the byline of anyone who did not write it.

Advertising and contributed content

• Advertising is sold separately from editorial. Buying an advertising slot does not buy news coverage, a favourable article or a link in an editorial story.
• Story submission is free and editorially reviewed. Paying for advertising has no bearing on whether a submission is published.
• Contributed and supplier articles are labelled as supplier insight or contributed content and credited to the contributing organisation.
• Advertisers and contributors have no sight of, or influence over, unrelated editorial coverage.

Use of AI

AI tools may be used for research support, transcription and editing assistance. Every published article is checked and approved by a human editor against its sources before it goes live. We do not publish unreviewed machine-generated articles, and we do not use AI to invent quotes, statistics or sources.

Corrections policy

We correct mistakes promptly. If you believe something we have published is inaccurate, email editorial@practicewire.co.uk with the article link and the detail you dispute.

• We aim to acknowledge correction requests within two working days.
• Where a factual error is confirmed, we amend the article and add a dated correction note at the foot of it. Substantive changes are never made silently.
• Headline or standfirst errors are corrected in place, with the change recorded in the same note.
• Articles carry a visible publication date, and updated articles carry an updated date.

Complaints and takedowns

Complaints about our journalism, and legal or privacy takedown requests, should go to editorial@practicewire.co.uk. We respond in writing. We do not remove accurate, lawfully published reporting simply because a subject would prefer it were not public.

Unpublishing

Our default is to correct and annotate rather than delete, so the record stays intact. Articles are only unpublished where there is a legal obligation or a serious risk of harm.
